Lyrics

A hum in the air over our little town
A band passing through, their bus broke down
The town was small, not much appeal,
But the bar owner went to cut a deal

The girls got ready as the sun went down,
Finally convinced her to come to town
Cassie could’ve stayed home, but she went with the girls
Let her hair down, showed her flowing curls

Let your hair down, shine your boots,
Dust the day off, folks lettin’ loose.

The band fired up as they entered the bar,
Fiddle, base and electric guitar
The girls pushed through like they’re herdin’ the crowd,
The singer took the mike and lit up the town.

The girls hit the dance floor, Cassie cut loose,
She was making magic with her dancing boots.
The girls were kicking it, the crowd wanted more,
No one could’ve guessed who’d take over the floor.

Let your hair down, shine your boots,
Dust the day off, folks lettin’ loose.

A man in black slipped outta the crowd,
His gator boots hit the floor, the music got loud.
The crowd slid back as he started to dance,
Three women strolled out as if in a trance.

Like dancing smoke he moved in a blur,
His team of dancers, part of his herd,
He spun ’round Cassie, showin’ off his skill,
Not just a dance, imposing his will.

Cassie smiled at him, said “that’s pretty rich,”
“But not in my town, you son of a bitch.”
She shifted her pace, the girl was dancing gold,
Heavenly fire coming out of her soles.

The band played a sound that rocked the stage,
Hit the room like a crashing wave.
The man in black danced wild with delight,
Cassie didn’t back down — she took up the fight.

Cassie danced like a dream, boots stomping loud,
The girls dancing back up, spinnin’ round.
He knew he was done, couldn’t take this town,
The man faded out, disappeared in the crowd.

Let your hair down, shine your boots,
Dust the day off, folks lettin’ loose.

The band played music loud and bright,
The crowd was singin’ and feelin’ right.
The dance floor alive on Friday night,
Just girls cuttin’ loose till the mornin’ light.

Let your hair down, shine your boots,
Dust the day off, country girls, just country girls cuttin’ loose.
